Senior Portrait - Makayla Moates | Emily McGonigle Photography

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve had a great start to your fall season! I come to you today with a recent senior portrait session I did with Makayla Moates!

Makayla is super awesome. She’s really laid back, extremely athletic, and has a fun, goofy side to her. She brought her sister, Alexis, with her on her session, who was so encouraging to Makayla and also jumped in to help from time to time. The girls get along great, so between all the love Makayla was getting from her mother and sister and the pampering and encouragement she got from mysel and my team, the set was full of joy and positivity that day!

I love days like that! It’s just full of laughing, playfulness, and of course, awesome images.

For Makayla’s session, she really loved the idea of keeping things simple and casual. For her second look, we wanted to lean into her athletic persona, so she wore her favorite Nike pullover.

After that, we decided to do some more moody and dramatic lighting for the shots of her in her basketball uniform.

Last thing we did for Makayla’s session was to step outside and do some shots around the studio’s lot. There was beautiful hazy sunlight streaming through the clouds that made for really lovely light.

So much fun!
