Senior Portrait - Georgie Bonnette | Emily McGonigle Photography

HOW is it almost March? WHERE did this month go?!

I never believed the adults in my life when I was younger, when they would tell me that time would fly by faster as I got older. How does that work?! What are the physics behind it?! My mind is blown.

ANYWAY… While I struggle to understand where the last 57 days went, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite sessions from 2019, featuring the lovely Georgie Bonnette!

I’ve recently started playing with film for the first time. Crazy, right? We have all this digital stuff around us, and I go out and buy a film camera. It’s just an old point and shoot from the 80’s but there’s something I love about working with tangible mediums, and not being able to see what I’ve done right away. It’s kind of exciting in a way.

I took some photos during Georgie’s session with that film camera, while she was getting her hair and makeup done by the lovely Kenzie Galloway.

Georgie’s ideas for her session were clean and simple, but powerful. Sometimes less is more when it comes to location, sets, and lighting. We did Georgie’s session almost entirely natural light, except for the last black and white look. The light was gorgeous that day, and aside from being a touch on the cold side, the weather was really nice!

The first look was on a plane backdrop that complimented Georgie’s skin tone beautifully, while she wore a long white dress and whipped her hair around.

Next we went outside to play in the sunlight! We were able to get a few different “location looks” just by walking around the building that houses the studio.

The last thing we did was run back inside into the warmth of the studio. We set up a few lights and made some gorgeous portraits of Georgie in black and white.
