Model Portrait - Emma Cat | Emily McGonigle Photography
Happy July, everyone!
I can’t believe this year is halfway over.
I also can’t believe I haven’t blogged this session yet!
At the beginning of the year, I had the pleasure of working with Emma Cat from Eye Model Management and Select Models Atlanta.
It was the first shoot in what was supposed to be a continuing series of personal shoots until COVID-19 went and ruined that plan. 🙃
STILL… it is one of my absolute favorite shoots to date!
I ended up styling this session myself but purchasing some clothing online as well as thrift shopping. Of course, Emma brought some pieces she owned as well, and between the two of us, we had some fantastic looks!
I also got to work with the talented Mira Gonzalez, who did Emma Cat’s hair and makeup.
The first look was a simple set up. Lit with all-natural light in front of a large garage door. Emma Cat brought her awesome Queen t-shirt and Doc Martins, while she wore a skirt I bought online and a jacket I thrifted.
The second look made creative use of the studio space available to us. It was too cold outside for us to shoot outdoors, but I wanted a look that wasn’t just on a plain backdrop, so I had Emma Cat hang out in a corner of the studio I don’t often use to shoot.
The third look was a brighter, more sterile set up, styled again with a mix of thrifted and purchased items.
The very last look is my favorite, I think. I just love the way the wardrobe, colors, and mood all comes together.
I even shot a little bit of polaroid on set that day. I’ve been buying more and more 35mm film and polaroid film, which is something I want to start incorporating into my shoots. It’s mostly just for fun, but I really enjoy the physical act of loading, shooting, winding, and scanning film.
So there you have it! My awesome shoot with the lovely Emma Cat! Leave her some love in the comments below!
